Technological Innovations in Health care

Technological Innovations in Health care

Healthcare is facing major global challenges, where an aging population with greater care needs and more unequal access to care must be taken care of with increasingly scarce resources.

In healthcare technology, with the collective term “Health Tech”, a revolution is underway. With new technical tools, the care experience can be improved both in terms of quality and efficiency. Add to advances in artificial intelligence (AI), which makes a faster, more accessible and individualized response possible.

An intensify health care crise

The world’s population is getting older. The UN estimates that the number of people over the age of 80 will triple between 2019 and 2050, from 143 to 426 million globally. The cost of care for an 80-year-old is on average four times higher than for a 40-year-old

The modern lifestyle is to be added to the aging trend.

We move less, stress more, eat more unhealthily. In a study, for example, the consulting company Deloitte predicted an annual increase in health care costs in sixty countries of 5.4 percent between 2018 and 2022.  The world’s total GDP, health care costs amounted to over 10 per cent in 2019. And that was even before covid-19 broke out.

Health Tech.

Health Tech is an increasingly common term for innovations, technical tools and programs aimed at increasing healthcare efficiency, productivity and overall quality, as well as to facilitate the development of new drugs and treatments.

The technology has a growing amount of health data in the form of, for example, heart rate, fitness, steps and sleep that the patient can collect themselves with the help of a watch or mobile app. Supplements such as Bluetooth sensors can measure blood sugar in diabetics or check that a medicine is taken in the right amount at the right time.

Doctor visit on the TV couch

The Internet has grown into an information platform and plays an important role in the Health Tech of the future. Often, simpler diagnoses can just be a Google search away.

If we need medical help, Health Tech can be a solution.  Online doctors is an  area that has grown rapidly. Mobile applications digitize the healthcare process by letting us meet a doctor digitally,

Digital journals provide new opportunities

Digital medical records also make it possible to use more of the Internet. Patients can be provided with ID bracelets, which when scanned provide the doctor with medical record information. In addition, entire medication processes can be automated, with the help of programs that take care of everything from prescriptions to physical delivery and follow-up.

Wide application areas for AI

Artificial intelligence (AI) is an area with enormous future potential. How about diagnosis, drug administration and research, robotic aids for surgery, or why not optimize patient flows to minimize waiting times and maximize qualified resource utilization? The adoption of AI is increasing rapidly.

Making accurate diagnoses quickly can be one of the keys to more efficient healthcare.

Modern surgery uses a lot of robotic to assist with various tasks. Assistive technology can greatly improve the lives of people with disabilities. And may help with everything from hearing loss to cognitive and physical problems.

A new print format

3D printing could be a solution in the future. 3D printing uses specially designed machines and materials to design artificial organs and human tissues

3D printing is also applied in biomedicine. You can, for example, design pills that contain several different drugs with varying release times. Robot pills, which via AI can be moved and delivered to the right part of the body to perform examinations, take samples or clear arteries.

Conclusion

Our increasingly older population with greater care needs must be cared for with scarcer resources, and inequality in access to care is high. This is of course a difficult equation to solv. Man’s innovative power seems to be the solutionone of the greatest challenges of our time in social sustainability.
